Jai Guru Deva, one of the sweetest memories of my childhood is sachin's batting. I was punished for this multiple times by multiple people. Yet, if I were to live that day again, I will still watch Sachin bat and would not mind the punishments. That was Sachin and that was me. Few days ago West Indies team have beaten the hosts Sri Lanka to win the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup. I  just tried to understand the various aspects of Windies cricket to reach this place. Lost Glory: The regal look of Clive Llyod has vanished, so does the marauding spirit of King Richards. Shamefully enough, Lara is labelled as the last king of Caribbean which sums up that the assembly line of great cricketers have come to an abrupt end. There is no X factor in the bowling, no more lethal pace, nor the breath taking swing. No more Michael Holding, no more Andy Roberts. Sunil Naraine might be a dangerous bowler to England or SA who are perennially weak against spin but against Sri Lanka on their home turf, he is also just another bowler who could be effective on his day, NOT everyday. "ARAVINDA DESILVA" If at all you remember this name I'm sure you would have started following cricket prior to 1996.. The first time I saw this batsman called "Desilva" was way back in 1994 when SriLanka met West Indies in the Hero Cup in India..(yeah! Hero cup! remember Kumble 12/6?). In that match Windies conveniently won over the Lankans who were then carrying a  minnow tag. Though the result of the match was not surprising one batsman particularly caught my attention not for for his shots but for a peculiar reason of breaking his bat into two pieces.  In the series further Desilva was the major contributor with the bat for his side and many times was the only contributor.. I consider Desilva as the Abhimanyu of Srilanka who was all alone in the enemy lines fighting hard without giving it up.. thats when I started respecting first and admiring later! He was not as stylish as Lara or a Sachin. however, he is tough, rigid and always tried to attack bowlers.. ...

Stupendous! Fantastic! Magnificent! Fantabulous! Wow!! ....... Yesterday I had been to a friend's place and was watching some news channels.. every few minutes I observe some opinions or some updates keep breaking on the screen. Of course now every news in this country is a "breaking news" I never really understood what they mean by "breaking"! did the news came out after breaking something? I really dont know!! "15 Mumbai students committing suicides in 15 days" what prompted those 15 kids to put an abrupt end to their lives? as of today this question remains unanswered!! why is the media running away from probing this?? I have not seen any of the so called "investigative journalist team" making a move in this direction. End of the day this topic also has the potential to increase their TRP because the biggest selling formula in today's media is "Negative sells" but still nothing happened in this direction. Today the 2nd of Nov, 2008 an unsung hero of Indian cricket has called it a day. he made a right decision by doing so and prevented more criticism, more doubts on his dedication and more stupid questions from media. He entered into Indian cricket team as a young lad with solid spects capable of bowling some sort of leg spin (which many calls as another type of medium pace). he never had a typical leg spinner's bowling action neither his balls turned as expected by a leg spinner, still he is capable of getting wickets. His arsenal is equipped with a ferocious flipper always bang on target and backing it he had his will to dominate, his commitment to the team's victory. when compared with the greats of his era, he is second to none. He is not a lecherous maniac as Shane Warne, neither his bowling action is under scrutiny like Murali. He is not a crowd puller like Sachin, nor a flamboyant leader like Saurabh but still he demands the respect of his team just by his sheer commitment...

an hour ago i was sleeping in my room when sam came and remarked that i missed something, he listed what all i missed like the heroics of Sehwag, destroying performance from Sachin, responsible and sensible innings from dada and Dhoni's dhamaka overall an onslaught of Bermudan bowlers by Indian lions, tigers, dogs etc(only beasts). the bottom line is that we are very happy for the performance of our players against minnows like Bermuda(both in cricket sense nd population as well). dts the plight of Indian cricket!!! we are comparing our 75 years of glorious cricket with the one which started playing a couple of years back and which hardly have any professional players. many ppl rather most ppl in that team are amateurs. we couldnt win a match over a team like Bangladesh never mind its minnow tag. its the attitude dts the problem. whene ever there are trying conditions play straight bat this is one of the basic lines in any cricketing book. none in Indian team remembered this all...
