Genesis of Taboo Secularism!!!

Jai Guru Deva! Among several myths that were busted by Indian Elections of 2014, there is a tacit message to the politicians: "We ARE middle class; we PAY taxes for the common good of this country but not safeguarding secularism or any other ism that sound politically romantic; you better meet our expectations or GET LOST!" This message is clear and unequivocal. This blog post is a postmortem analysis of why and how secularism as a political argument failed to attract the masses and why today secularism is treated as unpatriotic, anti-national and synonymous to minority appeasement. As a close observer of Indian politics I am trying to chronicle ten instances which enhanced secularism as taboo. Years passed since some of these incidents yet I allude to them as they had successfully created a negative psyche about secularism among the Indian masses. 1. Manmohan singh's Minorities first comment: As the prime minister of world's largest democracy Manmohan Sin...

Jai Guru Deva! I hereby extend my whole hearted support to Israel which is once again fighting a battle of its survival.

An Article and My Response!!

In the backdrop of the recent avalanche in Siachen there was a mindless article in DAWN newspaper. The original article can be found here .This paper supposedly the best newspaper in Pakistan and this is its quality :( I read The Hindu News paper every day and never found such one sided articles bashing other countries. Despite my millions of differences with The Hindu I still say its a lot better than its Pakistani counter parts. Here is my Response: Firstly my deep condolences for the soldiers families. May God give them strength to pass this testing phase. And about this article, it stands as an example to show why the world have a problem with Pakistan and why Pakistan cannot be trusted. These kind of half truths were spread left right and center by Pakistani establishment as well as by Pakistani media for the sake of their own interests. Money matters! so does power! Pakistan had sent touring expeditions to Siachen as early as 1957. Observing the indifferent attitude of t...

A courage called Dr.Swamy

Image
When discussing about politics, heroism etc my father talks of only two names: 1. George Fernandes 2. Subramaniam Swamy. First time I heard of Dr. Swamy was during Vajpayee's rule and he made some remark which sounded trivial to me. In the next election he failed to get the deposit as well. I thought he is just another politician trying to find some space in the news channels and papers. But today he looks to me as an icon and inspiration. Very few people have impressed me so much that I tend to idolize them and I confess that only Dr.Swamy could do that in the recent past. He is not Dr. Kalam, not a Steve Waugh  and definitely not my Guruji, but still I'm so impressed with him. The way he is fighting the corruption is worth a big applause. He dont have any followers to burn the effigies of his detractors nor he has any strong family legacy to protect his interests or any Hazare model core team to devise strategies as well as plan of actions. With his sheer will powe...

Hindu Corruption Vs Muslim Corruption!!!

Image
Well! Well! Well! Baba Ramdev's property will now go through the scanner.. within a week's gap the red carpet welcome from the government translated into IT raids and ED scannings.. thats India for you!! Few hours are good enough to change friends to foes and vice versa!!  Now coming to the present situation, a lot is being said and discussed about Ramdev's identity as a yoga guru, his 200 odd companies, 1100 cr trust and the scottish island.. but none of these fails to explain why he cant fight against corruption?? on sunday night I watched a discussion hosted by Burkha Dutt and one of the gentlmen took a serious objection about the people in Ramlila grounds shouting slogans "Vandemataram" and "Bharathmata ki jai" (I forgot the name of the person).. But he conviniently ignored the fact that no section of Indian Penal Code prevents its citizens from shouting "Vandemataram".. in fact it is the battle cry of Indian Freedom Struggle.. For suppos...

jai ho Baba Ramdev

Image
Baba Ramdev's complete speech!! this is another historic moment.. way to go Ramdevji.. All those people who have come from far in this heat, under adverse conditions, without caring for their comforts are doing everything for their nation…today when there's no time for our own family, at this time a 'sanyasi' has decided to end corruption and to change things today…I am thankful that you all have come in thousands. I can understand your determination and emotions and from tomorrow, the "bhrashtachar mitao satyagraha" which will start, will also comprise women and children. I am thankful to you all. The primary cause is to change an established order. I asked little children what they will do…and they said they would fast to bring back black money. They said, "Even we will fight against corruption with you'. I can see even a one-year-old in the audience. My words fall short… I am so touched. I agree there are some good leaders, businessmen...

Satvik Dharna!!!

Anna Hazare!!! whole of this country is echoing this name..  "A country starved of heros finds one in him" writes a blogger..  A 72 year old grand pa taking it to the street is something unusal.. a lot is being said about him both in the national as well as in the international media.. even a news paper like dawn which is always busy belittling Indians have given so much of coverage to him.. After Sachin's double hundred in 2009 this is the first time an Indian has been mentioned in a positive note in that news paper..  well coming to the grand pa, I'm not going to write about his profile and the different issues that he has fought.. but I definitely want to use this post as a memoir of that day when I participated in that dharna.. it is the first time that I attended a political rally/dharna etc.. belive me that was minor miracle to say the least..  there were around five to six thousand people among whom 95% people were aged less than 30 and many of them have dire...

Death: Not Sufficient

Finally some sort of justice has been done for the murder machine which threw doom on 200 innocent people and sent waves of panic across billions of people in the world. 26/11 created different responses across the world. Many in India were worried because it once again reminded them the bitter fact that their safety is compromised. Many in Pakistan were worried that this might tempt the United States to adopt a stick approach in their diplomacy replacing the existing carrot approach. The FBI & Co. is afraid that the next generation terrorists might use 26/11 as a model for the future attacks.. On a whole the impact of 26/11 on the world in general and on sub continent in particular is quite significant.  Given such an important happening we have a criminal captured and we took some 17 months to finalize the punishment on that blood monger. Thats Indian judiciary for you.. now, my doubt in this whole saga is  "Is death sentence sufficient??" the obvious response that woul...

Velupillai:Martyr or Maniac?

In 1973 four people killed the Jaffna mayor, the police killed three of them and the fourth is "PRABHAKARAN". I never heard his name without the prefix "VELUPILLAI". when I first heard of him in my school days I thought he is another one like Veerappan!! but later in my 7th-8th classes I made a detailed study about his history and other things happened in the Emarald's Isle(courtesy: India Today special edition, sometime in 1996-1997). I used rate him as one of the greatest warriors world has ever seen, becasue he took the audacious step of taking responsibility for his race at the age of '17'. By doing so, he became Robinhood for the Tamil diaspora across the world. If LTTE became so huge an organization, went on maintaining its own navy and airforce its not because of the capability of Prabhakaran alone but strength of Tamil Diaspora across the world. As I observe Tamil diaspora is stronger than most other races (I would say only Islamic diaspora is ...

my deep condolences to all my brothers who became the victims of this inhuman act.

Pakistan for you!!!

Right from my childhood I never had a positive feeling about Pakistan. It may be because of my parents long term association with organizations like RSS. and my father making me a 'swayamsevak' so that I would learn some discipline in my life. And I got exactly what my dad expected. you know, i was always my mom's kid but some times consider my dad also :) well now the point of this blog is the video I watched in youtube. its just shocking!! and word shocking will not be sufficient to describe this. and i dont know any better word. may be 'horrendous' or 'grotesque' might fit. P.S.: if at all you are a feminist please please prevent yourself from watching this video. this is a sincere request. Coz i have not known any feminist valuing my words. so making this specific request. its very disturbing and i dont want anyone to get disturbed by my blog. here is the link

UPA won, India lost!!

Abraham Lincoln's Democracy: for the people by the people of the people Definition in world's largest Democratic country: far the people buy the people off the people this is India for you. anything can happen in India and anything can happen only in ndia. y'day the 22nd of july 2008 stands as the darkest day of indian democratic history. almost an year ago i had a discussion with Prof. Zeleny who opined that democracy is not suitable in India and he also claimed that it is because of democracy India is not developing as fast as china. my only answer for his claim is 'if you ask me to take one among freedom of speech and development, i would not hesitate a moment to opt for the former' given the diversity of India anything other than democracy would be a disaster. we are different from each other in terms of the God we worship, the color we have, our food habits, languages, cultures, traditions and what not! we r different to each other all across the aisles and ch...

Are we really anti terroristic??

results of terrorism in India: lost two prime ministers serious attack on country's business capital Attack on symbol of democracy: the Parliament innumerable deaths of security personnel irrespective of all these things Indian premier is not ashamed to say that he lost sleep becoz of the plight of a doctor in Australian jail. he has conveniently forgot the fact that the person is charged on serious allegations and his name is connected with the attempt on the glasgow airport. Had they succeeded in their plans it would have been a repetition of sept 11, 2001. who on the earth can forget that black day in the history of humanity. a loss of thousands of lives and innumerable loss of property. even after witnessing such a situation indian govt. as well as the media want to save a terrorist supporter. the media made him a national hero and the govt. is at its very best to save him. y shudnt he be prosecuted as per the OZ norms y shud india involve in b/n ? irrespective of nationali...

stupidity at its best!!!

ever since the attack on the Indian parliament all the political parties condemned the attack and appealed to deal the terrorism with iron hand. but when it comes to reality what matters most for the political parties is their repective vote banks and their own personal interests. It is a matter of shame dt an Indian State has a person like Gulam Nabi Azad as its CM. being the chief minister of a state he is voicing against the ruling of the nation's apex court. this is happening only in India and this can happen only in India. as long as the Indian race sleep in the myth of peace, tolerance etc and forget things called self esteem no terrorist in the country can be properly convicted. I really nevr understand in which we are going. some ppl say we dont sing the national song, some ppl say release the culpricts, some say divide the land etc and we tolerate all these saying words like democracy, power of expression etc. everyone speaks about the fundamental rights of the ppl but co...

Vandemataram!!!

Image
History has a place in its annals for many great people who influenced the masses around them. but its rare to find that one word motivated millions of people. It is the same word which created panic in the majestic empire of "the sun never set". It is the same word which provoked the sleeping patriotic zeal in the Indian SubContinent. Being an Indian I feel proude to yell "vandematarm" as a bow to my motherland, as a pledge to contribute towards my nation. the sacred ode manifested the elegance of Bankin Chandra Chatterjee in bringing the fire from deeper layers of human hearts. Because of this reason the word has become a synonym of Indian National movement. But unfortunate thing is that the present day politicians are resisting its patronization for the sake of vote bank politics. Much has happenend in the country because of the vote bank politics and this is one awkward face of it. the sole target of Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav is to potray hiself as the saviour and ...
